A Cultural Mission

Caminismo A.C.’s stated legal purpose is cultural, and that shows up directly in what we publish. A large share of our catalog — books, poems, and songs alike — comes from artists who live and write across the US/Mexico border, and it consistently holds up Mexico’s ancient and diverse culture in a positive light: its regional music traditions, its layered indigenous and mestizo roots, its faith, its hospitality. The values that recur through the catalog — family that stays close, elders who are respected, work done honestly because it is yours to do — are offered as more than local color. They are presented as a working answer to problems much of Western society is still trying to solve, and as something worth learning from rather than leaving behind.
