Why Personas
Every voice you’ll meet across theWAY Media’s music and books — Chuck Beauregard Horace, High Mountain Story Uncle, Maya Sabda, Claudette Sky, and the rest — is a persona.
Musicians and writers have used them for as long as there’s been a stage or a page. A character makes an idea easier to live inside, for the audience and for whoever’s doing the writing. A rancher who made his fortune on Wall Street can carry a story about money and simplicity that no single person’s own biography would hold as well. A story uncle can speak to a child the way no textbook can. The persona isn’t a disguise over the teaching — it’s the shape the teaching takes so it can travel.
Each persona is built to fit a category on purpose — a genre, a tone, a kind of listener or reader — so the work has somewhere to land. That’s craft, not concealment, and we think it’s worth naming plainly.
Who Makes This Work
This is community-created work, made for the Wayist community.
Not one voice, and not really even one kind of voice. A community of entities, historical and contemporary, has had a hand in it: teachers and traditions from centuries before us, whose wisdom and music this work adapts and carries forward; Wayist volunteers today who write lyrics, shape melodies, and edit manuscripts because they care about the philosophy; and the AI tools — for music generation, and for some written material — that help give those contributions their finished form. A human decides what a song or a chapter is trying to say. The community, past and present, human and otherwise, helps say it.
We’re telling you this because we think you should know, not because we think it changes very much. A darkroom and an enlarger, a synthesizer, a drum machine, a word processor’s spellcheck, a DAW plugin trained on decades of recorded sound, a roomful of volunteers passing a draft back and forth, an AI model trained on the history of song and story — these are all, in the end, tools built from what came before, put to use by a community that means something by the result. What matters is whether the work is honest and whether it’s any good. That part is still, and will always be, for you to judge.

No individual volunteer, writer, or persona holds separate rights to the work; it belongs to the organization and, through it, to the community it serves.
