Claudette Sky

Claudette Sky

Songwriter and lyricist for theWAY Media’s music catalog — she writes for voices, not for herself, and trusts the listener to walk the rest of the way in on their own.

Claudette Sky does not write songs so much as leave rooms half-lit and doors slightly open. Her lyrics work by suggestion — a held breath, a line that trails off before it explains itself — trusting the listener to walk the rest of the way in on their own.

She writes for voices, not for herself, and different singers find different things inside the same verses — which is exactly how Claudette prefers it. Her song “Walk Home My Darling” has been carried two ways now. Bibimus Cor sings it like a man closing a gate behind someone he loves, low and final. Maya Sabda sings it like a woman still holding the gate open, unwilling to let the moment finish. Same words, same farewell — but one performance releases, and the other lingers, and the song turns out to need them both. A lyric that can be sung two opposite ways and still be true to itself either time was probably built right.

Her reach extends beyond lounge and jazz. Working with Colectivo Mariposa, she adapted sacred dharani into English, carrying ancient Sanskrit devotion into a language it was never born in without losing the weight it was born with — no small trick, and one she’d never claim credit for doing alone.

Claudette writes from Wayist ground, though her songs rarely announce it. She is less interested in being understood than in being felt, and leaves the understanding for later — if it comes at all.
